On Saturday, November 14th between 9AM and 11AM we will be giving away free turkeys along with a bag of non-perishable side dish items to feed a family of four for those who are in need.

DONATE TURKEY(S) AND NON-PERISHABLES TOWARDS A FAMILIES THANKSGIVING DAY DINNER
We are accepting frozen turkeys and side dish bags on Saturday, November 7th between 8:30AM and 11:30AM in the Lower Level Lounge of our Rockville Centre church in preparation of the give-a-way the following Saturday. This timing will allow us sort through all the donations and to purchase additional food as needed. By using the links below to indicate your intention to donate you will help us greatly in knowing our count to plan accordingly.
Donate a Turkey(s). If you will donate a turkey(s), we kindly ask that you let us know by using the link below. *We are also accepting turkey(s) the following Saturday, November 14th (Giveaway Day) between 9AM and 10AM. All turkeys should be frozen. CLICK TO: DONATE A TURKEY(S)
Donate a bag(s) of non-perishable side dish items. Along with a turkey, each family will receive a bag of non-perishable food items to help complete their Thanksgiving Dinner meal. For that reason, only a complete side dish bag will be accepted. No individual side dish items will be collected.
A complete bag of nonperishable side dish items per family includes:
1 (one) box of stuffing
2 (two) cans of vegetables
2 (two) cans of soup
1 (one) can of yams
1 (one) can of cranberry sauce
1 (one) can of fruit
1 (one) can of gravy
1(one) box of macaroni and cheese OR mashed potatoes OR rice
1 (one) box of cake mix and 1 (one) can of frosting
1 (one) 64 oz. bottle of apple juice

***Kindly note, the church is unable to accept turkeys and non-perishable donations during any other time except the designated days/times as we are not staffed or equipped to handle these otherwise. Please DO NOT leave donations anywhere on our church property.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Sunday Storage:
These volunteers will be available each Sunday from October 4th through November 8th after the second worship service to collect any non-perishable donations from the sanctuary and bring them downstairs and put them in storage. SUNDAY STORAGE VOLUNTEER SIGN UP
Donation Drop Off Day:
Meets on Saturday, November 7th from 9AM-11AM to accept turkey donations and any nonperishable donations that may be dropped off on that day and to properly store them in the church freezers or storage shelves and, if the number of turkeys donated exceed the church’s freezer capacity, to give the excess turkeys to the ‘Extra Freezer Space’ volunteers who have specifically volunteered to store/freeze them. Extra Freezer Space:
Do you have extra freezer space available? Our prayer is to have more than we can store here at the church. You must be able to pick up the number of turkeys you have capacity for from the Lower Level Lounge on Saturday November 7th between 11AM and 12PM. You must also be available to return the frozen turkeys to the church on our Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway Day on Saturday, November 14 between 9AM and 10AM. General Set Up:
Meets at the church on Friday, November 13th from 3PM to 7PM to set things up for the actual give-away the next day. Tasks will include moving and stacking chairs in back of sanctuary, bringing bags of side dishes up from the Lower Level Lounge to the sanctuary, and otherwise set up the distribution area. Decorating:
We meet on Friday, November 13th from 5PM to 9PM to decorate the distribution area and area outside the front of the church leading to the main entrance. DECORATING VOLUNTEER SIGN UP
Turkey Giveaway Day:
Several opportunities to serve are available on the giveaway day which is Saturday, November 14th.
- Hospitality/Welcome – Need 3-4 volunteers to greet guests, answer questions, assist elderly or mobility-limited guests and help the line feel welcoming. They will follow a plan for seating the elderly or mobility-limited guests who can’t stand long and process them quickly. 8AM to 12PM.
- Nonperishable Distribution – Need 3 volunteers to distribute nonperishable, side dish bags and perhaps assist folks to car if necessary. 8AM to 12PM.
- Turkey Distribution – Need 3 volunteers to distribute frozen turkeys and perhaps assist folks to car if necessary. 8AM to 12PM.
- Clean-Up Volunteers – Need 5-7 volunteers to assist in cleaning up after the event and getting the church set up for Sunday services. *12PM and stays until we are finished.

GIVE FINANCIALLY
We are accepting monetary donations designated specifically toward purchasing additional food for this outreach event. There are several ways to give including cash or checks specifically noted ‘Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway’ given through Sundays offering or mailed to the church office.
